Most drainage contractors make regular use of Electro-Mechanical machines for clearing and cleaning drainage systems. It is important to be properly certified to use these machines under the PUWER Regulations health and safety act (1999). This course covers the safe use and application of all makes of machines including Spartan, Trojan, Ridgid, Monument & Rothernberg machines.
By design, spring cable machines present a number of dangers to the user. This course will demonstrate both the dangers and correct use of machines in all situations. Operators will receive Energy & Utility Skills Certification upon completion. Demonstration footage is used in this course to highlight various hazards.
Everyone using Electro-Mechanical machines should attend this training course and obtain the correct certification, these machines should never be employed by untrained personnel.
This course approved by the national association of drainage contractors (NADC) and energy & utility skills (EU skills) certification body and are part of the NADC certified contractor scheme.
Upon completion sucessful candidates will receive a personal certified NADC id card and certificate.
Aims & Objectives
This course will enable you to ensure that drainage operatives are aware of the dangers and risks whilst working with Electro-Mechanical equipment and to be able to identify and select the appropriate equipment in line with the approved code of practice (drains and sewers)
- Understand the dangers associated with using Electro-Mechanical equipment
- Understand the correct handling techniques
- Know which attachments or Electro-Mechanical equipment are used for each task
- Know the procedures for setting up Electro-Mechanical equipment
- Understand the health and safety issues related to Electro-Mechanical equipment.
- Best Practises when operating Electro-Mechanical machines.

Course Questions
Upon completion of the course candidates will be given 40 multiple choice questions.
Minimum pass rate is 80%
